The South West London and Surrey Neurosciences Network Board was established in 2020 with the purpose of improving patient experience through supporting collaborative working across the geography.
Network aims
The network seeks to ensure that:
- Patients have timely access to specialist neurology services, regardless of where they live.
- We collaborate based on population health benefits to achieve the best outcomes through the most effective use of resources to all SWL and Surrey residents.
- We build upon well-established collaboration and networks in SWL and Surrey.
- Whole pathway transformation maximises patient experience and efficiency, with providers and clinicians driving the transformation.
- There is repatriation of patients within our region, with care as close to home as feasible.
- Financial benefit and risk is shared proportionally and fairly between providers, and decisions taken are the optimum for the most – and factor in mitigations to any provider adversely affected to ensure equity.
- High-quality data is collected and used to improve patient outcomes, quality of care, and performance.
Network configuration
The SWLSNN is an ICS and provider partnership network, involving:
- The SWL and Surrey Heartlands ICSs
- Acute providers across the region
- Community and primary care partners across the region
St George’s University Hospitals acts as the tertiary acute provider and provides specialist neurosciences support to providers across the network and is the host for the network, and provides the administrative support / project management resource.
